Wheel Alignment / Tracking
Wheel alignment sometimes referred to as tracking, is part of standard automobile maintenance that consists of adjusting the angles
of the wheels so that they are set to the car maker's specification. The purpose of these adjustments is to reduce tire wear,
and to ensure that vehicle travel is straight and true (without "pulling" to one side). Alignment angles can also be altered beyond
the maker's specifications to obtain a specific handling characteristic. Our experience is second to none in setting up cars, in fact
we are well known in motorsport circles for tracking rally and race cars.
Usually a car takes about 1 hour to track so give us a call on 063 86123 to arrange a booking.
The Equipment
We have the very latest computerised 4 wheel align equipment to set up your car's toe, castor, camber settings. There are two types of wheel alignment: two-wheel and four-wheel alignment. Two-wheel alignment involves aligning the front wheels only and was the predominant alignment method used before the introduction of todayâ?Ts more sophisticated steering and suspension systems. Two-wheel alignment is satisfactory for older model vehicles and with solid rear axle.
we recommends that all recent model vehicles, i.e. those without a solid rear axle, require a four-wheel alignment. This involves aligning all four wheels together. Particularly for the front-wheel drive vehicles and those with independent rear suspension, failure to align all four wheels can compromise safety and handling qualities.
Reasons for wheel alignment
There is a lot of reasons why you should ensure your car is properly tracked. It will save you money in the long run and make for safer driving.
Reduced Tyre Wear
Improper alignment is a major cause of premature tyre wear. Over the years, a properly aligned vehicle can add thousands of miles to tyre life.
Better Fuel Mileage
Fuel mileage increases as rolling resistance decreases. Total alignment sets all four wheel parallel which, along with proper inflation, minimizes rolling resistance.
Improved Handling
Does your car pull to one side? Does the steering wheel vibrate? Do you constantly have to move the steering wheel to keep your car traveling straight ahead? Many handling problems can be corrected by total alignment. With all the system components aligned properly, road shock is more efficiently absorbed for a smoother ride.
Safer Driving
A suspension system inspection is part of our alignment procedure. This allows us to spot worn parts before they cause costly problems.
